Wii-sident Evil 4

Nothing Face Resident Evil 4 is considered one of the best game of the entire series and it has won tons of awards from game magazines and websites. Originally a GameCube exclusive, it has made its way to the Playstation 2 as well as the heaven forbid PC. Now Resident Evil 4 has jumped upon it’s fourth console, the Nintendo Wii.

I played the Playstation 2 version back 2005 and was having a mix feeling of good and bad. Good is because the upgraded graphics and new gameplay elements. Bad is because … well, I miss killing zombies and I miss the old “survival horror” theme. RE4 is considered “survival action” and there was even a label that says “Forget about anything you remember about survival horror” on the back of the case. Regardless that is just my own opinion.

RE 4 Shootout

If you play RE4 on the PS2 before, you will find absolutely nothing new for this version, in terms of graphics and content. But the main difference comes in shooting the bad guys. You will use the Wiimote to aim and the nunchuk to move around. It takes a while to get used to it but once you are familiar, you will see that this version works much better compared to the GC and PS2 version. It’s much faster to aim and shoot thus gaining you higher hit ratios.

RE4 Run

Other than shooting, the Wii version really does make other uses of the wiimote. During certain events, you need to shake the wiimote as fast as you can to avoid being crushed by a huge rock or move the wiimote in a motion to turn the crank and such. It definitely feels more interesting compared to the conventional button mashing.

This is definitely one of the best games to play on the Wii. It doesn’t matter if you are not a veteran RE player, or you have completed the other versions before, just pick this version up. The new control scheme makes it worth playing all over again
