Review Type : End Conclusion
I completed this game a couple of months back actually. At that time my blog wasn’t up yet therefore I didn’t do any writing on any NDS games I played previously. Oh well guess its time to do some back tracking.

I remember I was trying to decide which game to buy but couldn’t make up my mind. Can’t exactly remember the other games but Lunar Knights was one of them. To be honest, I was feeling a bit skeptical about Lunar Knights due to the fact that Boktai series didn’t interest me. I played a bit of Boktai : The Sun Is In Your Hands and gave up after 2 stages. In the end, I decided to try my luck seeing that a lot of game reviewers gave this game a high score. After finishing the game, I can safely conclude that this is one of the good games on the NDS.

Storyline is pretty straightforward. Vampires are trying to take over the planet and its up to the two heroes to save the day. You have Aaron, a gunslinger who extracts powers from the sun and Lucian, a swordsman who extracts powers from the moon … errr darkness. Both guys play similarly but they have their own distinct differences other than the elements. As you go through the game, you will obtain Terrennials which further increases your firepower and grant you different elements as well as Trance. Trance is basically a transformation which enables your character to perform stronger attacks, each being different from one Terrennials to another.
Time to give my thoughts on the gameplay. Its pretty simple actually. You hack & slash or shoot, recharge your mana from the sun / moon, as well as collecting money and materials, which enables you to upgrade your weapon. Nothing gives you more satisfaction than having upgraded weapons to trash those enemies on the stages you previously visited *devilish grin*. I sure had fun killing bosses within seconds after I restart the game (with upgrades being brought over LOL). Trance powers are interesting as they require you to do specific action in order to execute their powers (using buttons, stylus or the mic). But sad to say you can easily get through boss fights with just Nero and Toasty’s trance, making the other Terrennials feel underused.

Graphical wise, the animation is smooth and the artwork on the characters look fantastic. I have to say the area of each stage is pretty huge. It took me quite a while to get to the boss area on some stages, which could be frustrating. As for the sound, music is ok and voice-cast for Aaron and Lucian fits in well for their personalities. But the other characters in the game could use some work, especially the professor! Too squeaky would best describe his voice.
Closing Comment : There’s actually a lot to write about this game but I’m just going to keep things simple. Wouldn’t want to spoil too much to those who haven’t played. Despite a few flaws, I really enjoyed playing Lunar Knights. It might not boast great storyline or superb gameplay like other games, but Lunar Knights is definitely one of the good games available on the NDS. I didn’t regret picking this copy up.
