PSP2 Rumours (?)
Lately, there seems to be a cloud of rumors of a new PSP in the making. Going through some of the websites, it seems like the rumour is true. Base on this website Sony UK director Ray Maguire confirms that a redesigned version is in the making. If it’s just a redesign (smaller, lighter) then it’s not something unexpected. Nintendo has been doing the same with their handheld sets (from gameboy to gameboy color, gameboy advance to gameboy sp & gameboy micro and finally from NDS to NDSLite)
However, Kotaku has mentioned some of the possible redesigns which I feel might be a bit disturbing.
- Gorgeous screen
- faster loading times
- improved buttons
- internal flash – 8GB
- Possible touch-screen (x)
- Possible built-in camera
- Uses UMD
Other features are okay but the one marked with an (x) is the one disturbing me. If a touch-screen is implemented, then it would be totally different from the original PSP. If a game is made for both PSP and PSP2(?), the old PSP will probably lose out in terms of functionality. Heck I even heard that a second analog stick is going to be implemented as well. Is Sony seriously trying to kill off the old PSP as soon as possible?
Anyway all the stuff I wrote in here are just rumours (except for the 1st article would seems pretty true). I’m not really up to date on it and I might have posted yestermonth’s articles. If you guys know anything let me know.
I hope the new design doesn’t affect the original PSP. I just purchased one recently and I’m definitely not going to fork out for another PSP. Rather go for the consoles this time.
