With the Nintendo 3DS release date being less than 2 months away, no doubt you will want to purchase some additional accessories to go along with Nintendo’s upcoming handheld device.
So what kind of accessories should you get? Read on to find out.
When it comes hand-held devices, people will usually go for these two things; screen protectors and a bag or pouch. As the title says, screen protectors will protect the screen from scratches while a bag will protect the handheld’s exterior from scratches as well as minor drops. There’s nothing worse than having your new shiny 3DS system dropped on rough concrete floors without any cover.
Similar to the days of the Nintendo DS (DS Lite as well as DSi), I have expected brands like Hori to resurface again with new accessories for the 3DS. For those who aren’t familiar, Hori has been a favorite brand among many gamers for their high quality screen protectors, accessories as well as arcade sticks. I can honestly say even after 4 years my DS Lite and PSP screens still looks new with nary a scratch.
For those who wants even more protection, you can purchase a protective case. A protective case is usually a transparent plastic that covers the main areas of your hand-held device. As a gamer whom have gone through quite a number of accessories for the DS, I would advise you to avoid these kind of cases if possible for 4 good reasons;
- Dust will get stuck between the device and case.
- Doesn’t protect against drops and to make matters worse, the plastic will definitely crack upon impact.
- You might even get unwanted scratches while installing the case.
- It adds extra bulk and weight.
Another alternative is to buy a silicon cover. In my opinion, silicon covers are slightly better as they serve as better shock absorbents against drops and rarely cause any scratches due to the soft material. However dust will still get stuck underneath, coupled with the extra bulk and weight.
Regardless of which accessory you choose to get, I wholeheartedly recommend that you get the Hori brand. A word of caution though, there are a lot of fakes being sold on the market. To be sure that the ones you are buying are original Hori, either get them from reputable shops or from Play-Asia.
