Posted by Dyna-Storm in Game & Gadget Stuff on July 29th, 2007

Normal Face Reveur asked me to whipped up some skins for the DS and within this two weeks I manage to come up with two skins featuring Ninja Gaiden and It’s A Wonderful World. If you guys want any skins or have an idea on what to put for a skin, let me know. I can make them during my free time.

CRAAAaaaazzzzy!

Posted by Dyna-Storm in Favourite Games of All Times on July 27th, 2007

Normal Face Back in the days when Dreamcast (a console from Sega) is still up and running in the market, a lot of good games were ported to it. One of them is Crazy Taxi. This game is really insane and it’s really good as a stress reliever. My favourite is still Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2. This game was ported to many consoles including the PC. However, the feeling just doesn’t seem the same.

For those who are not familiar with the game, Crazy Taxi is about game where you play as a cab/taxi driver. You drive around Big Apple picking up customers who are waving at you by the road side. Each customer will have a certain color ring. Red means the distance is close, yellow means moderate and green means the destination is far. The moment you pick up a customer, a timer starts. The amount of time given is depending on the distance. The best part of this game? You have no restriction on how you drive. Your main objective is to get your customer to their destination as fast as you can.

Crazy Taxi

When I first played Crazy Taxi, I was instantly hooked onto it. I played it almost everyday and every chance I get, even up to the extend that I need to be dragged away from the TV to eat my lunch or dinner. The amount of speed and destruction you can do is just mind blowing. In terms of destruction, you definitely can’t compare it to today’s game. Back then, ramming any car you see, it’s just pure fun!

Crazy Taxi 2

Crazy Taxi 2 is the sequel to Crazy Taxi. They added more mechanisms such as a jump function which really helps to jump over obstacles. Overall it still plays the same like the original Crazy Taxi, insane speed (for a taxi) and pure fun. Oh yes, another new feature is that you can now take up to maximum of 4 customers (as opposed to 1 for the orignal) . However you can’t randomly pick any 4. It’s only available to customers who has the blue ring.

Other than the usual taxi driving, mini games are included as well. In here you have to finish certain objectives in order to pass it. Upon completion you will unlock some extra stuff such as new “car”.

As mentioned above, Crazy Taxi was ported to Gamecube, PS2 and PC. I’m not really sure how the other console versions hold out but the PC version is definitely a very bad port. Lag was the main problem as opposed to the DC version which was running at smooth framerates with minimal hiccups. As most game reviewers mentioned, you definitely need to play this game on the DC to experience its full glory.

Crazy Taxi Fare Wars

To sweeten up things, Crazy Taxi Fare Wars is coming to the PSP. Base on what I read, it’s sort of a combination of both Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2 under one package. It also includes co-op and multiplayer mode. Hope the sense of speed isn’t decreased for this version. Running it at 30 fps per second is gonna be bad.

So are you ready to make some ccccrrrraaaaaazzy money?

Very Slow Updates

Posted by Dyna-Storm in Game & Gadget Stuff on July 26th, 2007

Nothing Face I will be doing less updates for my blog now as I have tons of assignments pouring in which seriously cuts away a lot of my time. I didn’t realize but all the subjects I’m taking for this term involves heavy programming language which most of them are new to me. In fact this term I’m suppose to create a working game. I seriously wonder how will I be coup up.

For the better or for the worse, this is the path I chose. But I’m definitely not going to charge blindly and ended up winning the battle (manage to pass the course) but lost the war (ended up with a low grade degree). I might decide to drop a sub and take up another easier one first. I will see how things go.

Wii-sident Evil 4

Posted by Dyna-Storm in Game & Gadget Stuff on July 24th, 2007

Nothing Face Resident Evil 4 is considered one of the best game of the entire series and it has won tons of awards from game magazines and websites. Originally a GameCube exclusive, it has made its way to the Playstation 2 as well as the heaven forbid PC. Now Resident Evil 4 has jumped upon it’s fourth console, the Nintendo Wii.

I played the Playstation 2 version back 2005 and was having a mix feeling of good and bad. Good is because the upgraded graphics and new gameplay elements. Bad is because … well, I miss killing zombies and I miss the old “survival horror” theme. RE4 is considered “survival action” and there was even a label that says “Forget about anything you remember about survival horror” on the back of the case. Regardless that is just my own opinion.

RE 4 Shootout

If you play RE4 on the PS2 before, you will find absolutely nothing new for this version, in terms of graphics and content. But the main difference comes in shooting the bad guys. You will use the Wiimote to aim and the nunchuk to move around. It takes a while to get used to it but once you are familiar, you will see that this version works much better compared to the GC and PS2 version. It’s much faster to aim and shoot thus gaining you higher hit ratios.

RE4 Run

Other than shooting, the Wii version really does make other uses of the wiimote. During certain events, you need to shake the wiimote as fast as you can to avoid being crushed by a huge rock or move the wiimote in a motion to turn the crank and such. It definitely feels more interesting compared to the conventional button mashing.

This is definitely one of the best games to play on the Wii. It doesn’t matter if you are not a veteran RE player, or you have completed the other versions before, just pick this version up. The new control scheme makes it worth playing all over again

Click ME to purchase the game. Thanks!

Capdase Soft Jacket Review

Posted by Dyna-Storm in My Reviews on July 22nd, 2007

Nothing Face There’s nothing like an extra cover to protect your Wiimotes and Nunchuk from scratches or reduce the damage when accidently drop on the ground. That’s why I decided to give Capdase Soft Jacket a shot. If you haven’t know, Capdase is pretty well known for its protective casing for Playstation Portable. I remember they came out with some stuff for the Nintendo DS but I didn’t really go notice. Anyway on with my thoughts!

Capdase Soft Jacket Box

The package comes with two “jackets”, one for the Wiimote and one for the Nunchuk. They also added in a wrist strap that hooks onto the end of the Wiimote jacket. That strap is actually kinda bulky so I just toss that aside. The original strap is good enough.

Wiimote + Nunchuk

Putting on the jacket isn’t hard at all. Just slowly tug the jacket until it finally reaches the end of the Wiimote/Nunchuk. All the major buttons are clearly exposed except for the Power, Minus, Home and Plus buttons on the Wiimote.

Wiimote

A personal shot of the Wiimote. Although the four buttons mentioned are covered, they don’t cause any disturbance. They can still be pressed as easily as before.

Nunchuk

Aside from scratch protection, the soft jacket does offer extra grip when handling the Wiimote and Nunchuk. When I originally saw the jacket, I thought it will have a sticky rubbery feel. To my surprise it doesn’t feel sticky at all. Let just say it feels nice to hold them. I’m definitely getting another set for my extra Wiimote and Nunchuk.

I only have one complain for this product, and that is the lack of area for you to remove and change your batteries. At the bottom, the soft jacket literally covers the entire area other than the B button. Therefore when your battery runs dead, you have to slip out the jacket to change the batteries. Although its nothing tedious, it would still be nice if we can just open the back part without taking out the entire cover.

Overall this is good product and I would recommend any Wii owners to get them. I give this product a 4 out of 5.

You may purchase the product from here!
